Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has taken a strict stand to remove obstacles in the wave path of wireless networks. After several rounds of raids last year, the Commission's Enforcement and Inspection Team seized a number of devices by carrying out BTRC raids against illegal network boosters and walkie-talkies again on Friday. Two people were arrested from the spot. According to the provisions of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act, 2001, legal action has been taken against those detained.

A total of 6 network boosters, 6 booster indoor antennas, 6 booster outdoor antennas and 2 walkie-talkies were seized in a joint operation with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-3 in East Tejturi neighborhood and Dhanmondi area of Tenjgaon in the capital. Senior Assistant Director Mahmudul Islam led the campaign on behalf of BTRC.

BTRC media informed that this is the first campaign of this year. The commission will continue regular surveillance and operations against illegal network boosters, jammers, repeaters and walkie-talkies. Consequently all are requested to refrain from buying/selling and using wireless equipment not authorized by BTRC to avoid punishment.
